I can confirm the latest nigthly works with the Pi400.
Wifi works and the latest Amelinium can open some web
pages.

The piAROS fails the the "Looking for bootable medium"
message. Probably just to replace some boot files here?

There is a presitant problem with that initially the
mouse pointer stays fixed. By clicking and dragging
the mouse position can be found as the rubber band
is drawn correctly. By dragging the screen down and
up a couple of times the mouse pointer is restored.

Note : Created a bug report for this issue : https://github.co...ssues/1651

Exited to get this to works correctly. The RPi platform
has potential to be rock solid as the hardware
stays fixed and not a moving target like X86_64.

SD should be FAT16 or FAT32 (not exFAT)
Boot payload files: It scans the root of this FAT partition for critical firmware files (bootcode.bin, start.elf, config.txt) and the AROS kernel/bootstrap image (typically configured via config.txt to load kernel.img or arosraspi.img / arosraspi.rom).

Whatever it is that tells the system the SD card is a bootable device seems to be inoperative. How does the system determine if a drive is bootable?

Please use command line using 'unzip' or Total Commander.
There were reports on the Raspberry Pi forum that the archive wasn't being properly recognized by xarchiver. I made it on a Mac, and that was probably a mistake.

From what I understand you just extract the contents to a Fat32 formatted SD card and it should be good. It should boot from that.

I'll be interested to see what you find. I wonder if i need to put AROS on a CD to boot. The instructions just say put it on the SD card and you are good to go.

I'm about to try it on my Pi400 to see what results I get. ;-)

So far, I have been able to use the piAROS torrent download with no errors, booting my Raspberry Pi 4 on the SD card I see two eyes and a flashing panel saying "Looking for bootable medium"

If I try the Zip file, the trying to extract says invalid file.

I'm out of ideas now but thank you all for your help.

Thank you for the download. It did help. I now see the two eyes but a panel flashes saying looking for bootable medium.

Try this proven archive: https://archive.o...oad/piAROS
or the system archive itself, because maybe the problem occurs when connecting the system and the contrib
Under no circumstances do you need to modify the files in these archives. The system is ready to be flashed to the card and booted.

If piAROS fails to boot, the only thing left is the older bootloader version. This can be updated.

I've tried both Pi3 and pi4
I've tried 4 different SD cards

Thanks for your interest

Hi,

Welcome.
What Pi are you trying Aros on?
Can you try another sd card or even a ssd. It can be random what results you get when mixing sd cards and fat32 writing/usage with Aros?
I have one sd card that works but is glacial slow in use, another sd card has fat32 errors but no error messages and is very fast. As you can see very random.

Just started to use the forum. Hi everyone. Having a lot of trouble getting AROS running on my Raspberry Pi. I have successfully downloaded and merged the system and contrib of the aarch binaries. I see error messages saying firmware not found, and lots of messages about failing to open a partition. Do I need to make modifications to the files? I just put them all in the root directory of the SD card.
