@AMIGASYSTEM
i have built another version that probably fix the black screen on your Haswell machine.
As usual substitute the intel.hidd on your Devs/Drivers directory to test. Then try to change resolution a couple of times and came back to 1024x768 (that's the default BIOS resolution). Always use the "USE" button. And report to me the log file.
Thanks

24 days agoThere are two logs: the first is the Guru log that appears on the low-resolution screen when I press the laptop’s power button.
In the second, the screen goes black when you press ‘USA’; this doesn’t always happen – usually it occurs the second time you reset the resolution.

Sono due i Log, uno il Guru che appare su Schermo bassa risoluzione quando premo tasto spegnimento portatile.
Il secondo lo schermo diventa nero quando premi Usa, non succede sempre di solito la seconda volta quando ricambi risoluzione.

1 month agoSorry, that was a copy-and-paste error—1024x768 works very well; the artifacts and screen clipping only occur at 800x600 and 640x480.
With those limited info from log (that only lists working resolutions) we produced a new driver attached.
In order to know how to fix, i need the artifact captured into the log. Please boot to 1024x768 and try to reproduce the artifact. Take a picture and Power off the machine. This saves a log with the artifact.
Next reboot and instead try to select other non working resolutions all in one log if possible, if not try to save the logs for a couple or more resolutions.
Thanks.

Accumulated is perfect so you can change every resolution without saving more than one log. I do like this multiple change of resolutions all in one log file.
Thanks

1 month agoDo you need the out.log files for each resolution, or do they accumulate?
I'm attaching the out.log file that was left on the USB drive; it's larger than usual, so I'm not sure if there are more logs.

@AMIGASYSTEM
Last test for today. I have updated the driver changing how some component inside the gfx chip works. Please test.
Most probably this could work good at 1920x1080.
@sonountaleban Probably some more code need to be implemented for your cpu/gpu, and without your log (you go to holidays if i remember correctly) i can't be able to check if what we change is correct, i'd say we could continue when you return, unless someone else with a similar hardware came out.
Thanks anyway for your help.

When I run Test4 at a resolution of 1920, I always get a blank screen. I'm attaching the log.

I don't know if USB drives created using a Linux program generate a proper USB bootloader that's the same as the one in a native AROS installation on USB devices.
Rufus can also write an ISO to a USB drive, but it's not a proper installation—I've encountered strange errors several times.
When you boot your ISO from VMware, it asks you to insert a DATA volume!
Solve it with a Assign DATA: RAM: >nil:

A bit better, no longer corrupted list in ScreenMode, but still no luck with 1920x1080x24 (and 16 bpp) modes. If I select 24 bits I see a grey screen, otherwise the out of sync black/blue screen. By the way on TV there is no switch to 16:9, the video signal is always stuck on 4:3 ratio.

OK new rebuilt of ISO image (changes are only on intel.hidd) so others could download only this .hidd driver that i attach here (intel_test4.hidd.zip) and substitute under Devs/Drivers
Iso to download

Changes are for Haswell CPU/GPU but could benefit also SandyBridge...please test and report.
