I don't understand. Do you mean that you updated your installation and after the when you download using Odyssey your browser freezes?

This ISO has exactly the same stack as I shared separatelly a few days ago. Please check downloading different files from different servers.

Right now I'm downloading a file and so far everything's fine. I'll try other files. Everything happened after installing the contrib package content, but anyway I'll check it more carefully.

Hi,
Vmware workstation player 17.6.1

These are just suggestions, and if you don't find them interesting, please delete them. My message is in a constructive spirit.

GENERAL
- too much "about" in wanderer right clic menu
- theme arosdefault is not default
- theme arosdefault very heavy with window background
- theme arosdefault window menu: add close with X on the right window
- theme xstreams and aros default must be 1. X red to close window on the right

PREFS
- Appearance, Wanderer, Zune -> same area. Maybe 1 pref?
- some prefs name are incomprehensible, is possibile rename? ahi-> audio, trident-> usb, icontrol??, PSI??

TOOLS
- Quickpart and hdtoolbox same thing? maybe 1 app?
- Boingiconbar not starting -> very sad. Maybe autostart add boot?
- wimp??

USABILITY
- owb or another browser not present
- app store to find, download and install app not present

I did a clean installation with all the updates, not the contrib package, but the problem still persists, especially when I download at a higher speed

Ok, thanks for the screenshot. So I assume all tabs are not responding but AROS itself is not crashing - correct?

I will need some more information:

Does the download continue and you see progress of download? The screen shot would suggest that.
What happens when download finishes? Does Odyssey "restore" itself?
Are you downloading to RAM? If not, to which disk are you downloading? SATA, IDE, USB?
Try to see what happens when you download to RAM:

no, the system doesn't crash, it's just the browser. now I'm trying to download into RAM: before I used to download to a partition on my HD in sfs

the situation doesn't change even if I dump it into RAM

Ok, other questions:

Does the download continue when Odyssey freezes?
Does the download eventually finish?
If yes, does Odyssey unfreze after download finishes?
A

Yes, the download keeps going even if Odyssey freezes; when it finishes, it starts working again

Then in might be that Oddyssey has some bug that becomes visible at high download speed. My suggestion is to starts a second Odyssey when you need to download something.

Just installed D04 to my i5 laptop. I'd saved off my envarc: and after the reboot tried to copy it back via Wanderer. I had the message that the copy couldn't happen because the object was in use. Fair enough, but when I tried to close the requester it would not close, it stayed open (along with the copy window) until I rebooted.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Did you used the same approach with D02 and D03 (copying ENVARC)? Did it work back there? Is the "object in use" clickable in either of them?

For the previous updates I was booting from a memory stick so didn't get the 'object in use' requester when copying between SSD partitions. I've still got D03 on my i7 tower - I'll try tonight and see what happens.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Tested with D03; the error was present there too.

Nigel.

Hi All,

Telematix implementend improve Move functionality in Wanderer that asks if destination should be overwritten and can merge two directories together. It solves this issue:

https://github.com/deadwood2/AROS/issues/147

Here is test binary:

https://axrt.org/development/Wanderer_rename.zip

Let us know if it works correctly for you and whethere you see any regressions with it.

Just tried this new Wanderer. Popped a file into T: and then tried to write this file into T: again along with another. Wanderer asked about overwriting the first file, I clicked 'no' and unfortunately the copy aborted, the second file was not copied. 'No to all' didn't work either. I've repeated the test several times and occasionally it works, but most of the time it doesn't. There's no obvious reason why it sometimes works either.

Sorry,
Nigel.

P.S. I though it might be something to do with the protection bits (one file was protected) so I tried changing them from menu item 'Information' and found that does not work, the changed state is not saved. It does work from the shell using 'protect'. Same behaviour if the file has an icon or not.

Workaround for "crash when unplugging USB device". I can no longer trigger this in VBox or H110M motherboard. Please test on your hardware.

https://axrt.org/development/pcixhci.device-1.54.zip

EDIT: If you still do get a crash, make a screen shot of the crash requester with More.. button clicked.
